Sunday Steven took us to Bailieu in the New Forest to the national motor museum and car show and land rover "boot sale" as he needed some spare parts.
He drove us the "pretty route" down the lanes and through the beautiful tree lined avenues...a green and pleasant land indeed!
Into the New Forest with horses, cattle and donkeys roaming free. The museum part was surprisingly interesting, we fortified ourselves with bacon sandwiches, and wandered through the rows and rows of "stuff" for sale....some of it interesting, old pedal cars etc selling for £600!
Had a look through the ...... Exhibition....good fun.
Then back to Henfield where Tracey had organised a fantastic dinner for 15! Annie didn't make it....she was still poorly.
Monday Jackie and John called in for a chat and invited us to go out for a drive with them. We went down to Littlehampton, again taking the pretty route rather than the main roads, had a pleasant walk along the front and then up the river. Interesting housing to snoop at. Coffee stop to warm ourselves up.....come on summer!.......show yourself! Always good to see territory not seen before. Home to delicious lasagne.
Wednesday (22nd) ...Tracey to the rescue....again! Picked us up about 10am and delivered us to Gatwick....last time we flew to Jersey it was from the South terminal but things have changed...and off we trudged to the North Terminal....not a hardship really...just jump on the shuttle.
Tony at the airport to pick us up.....Jersey as welcoming and charming as ever. It's a delightful place, nice mix of old and new, feels vibrant.
Great to catch up with Trish again, settled in for an energetic chat and catch up, Trish excelled with a great meal with one particularly extraordinary dish...defies description really.
A super evening with lots of laughs and stories.
Thursday (23rd)...a leisurely start to the day and then off to inspect the Jersey Tunnels....Jersey was occupied by the Germans in the Second World War...so very interesting indeed to see the evidence of the impact on the island and the islanders. Impossible to comprehend really what life was like.
Beautiful bowl of tomato soup in the kiosk to warm us up then off for a couple of miles walk around the dam....
French inspired dinner tonight .....confit of duck! Oh this hard work!....full day of activity planned for the morrow...more of that later.
Rose wine as in fashion in the Channel Islands as it is currently in Australia so feel obliged to quaff appropriate amounts.
Jersey is beautiful, green green and more green ...it is spud season so the Jersey potatoes will be in the stores Across the UK and parts foreign. The beautiful jersey cows looking contented in the fields.
It really is lovely tranquil place although like the UK at the moment , unseasonably cold. So the swimsuit will be unlikely to be getting an airing.
